This Compass 47 is a luxurious and capable fast cruising yacht, extensively equipped for blue water cruising. The interior is light and spacious with accommodation for 6. It has been continuously updated and maintained to a very high standard. The boat has beautiful lines and is highly recommended for viewing.

The COMPASS 47 was built in 1990 and first launched in 1991. It is a fast cruising yacht designed by Angelo Lavranos and built by Compass Marine in Cape Town. The hull, deck, and superstructure are made of GRP. The boat features full teak decks and cockpit, a white hull, encapsulated lead fin keel, and iroko reinforced skeg. The hull is protected with International paint. It has an aluminum stern balcony with full teak and a length overall (LOA) of 14.18m (47′).

Inventory includes navigation aids such as 2 compasses, Navman DSC HF radio, Navman 3100 wind and depth systems, Navman 5600 GPS, and Navman Fish fish finder-sonar. The boat also has a JVC stereo CD/radio and a TV LCD.

Ground tackle consists of a 30kg Bruce main anchor with 40m x 10mm chain, a 15kg reserve anchor, and an electric anchor winch. General equipment includes stainless steel pulpit, pushpit, and stanchions, stainless steel boarding gates, a stainless steel wheel with elk hide cover, Lewmar opening hatches and portlights, and more.

Safety equipment includes a 6-man liferaft, liferings, a Danbuoy, and an automatic fire extinguisher. The boat is powered by a PERKINS PRIMA 64 engine and an EVINRUDE 4hp auxiliary engine. The electrical system includes multiple battery banks, alternators for charging, and a shore power smart charger.

The boat has 2 primary fuel tanks and 1 daily tank with a total capacity of approximately 400L. The water system includes a hot water calorifier running off the main engine.

The mast and boom were replaced in 2005. Sails include a mainsail with a lazyjack system, a reserve mainsail, a genoa, and 2 storm jibs.
