The schooner aurica known as “O’Remington” was constructed in 1946 in the DiDonna Castelammare di Stabia shipyards in Italy. It was originally used for servicing the wine and fishery industries in the Mediterranean region for the first twenty years of its existence. In 1968, the boat was purchased by Lord Remington of England, who transformed it into a recreational vessel and renamed it “O’Remington.” The boat became a type of passenger vessel called a “goletta,” which was well-known in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions. O’Remington operated charter trips in Sudan for several years. In 1997, it was acquired and refurbished by the Ferretti family, who are well-known in the fashion industry. In 2004, it was purchased by its current owner, who carried out a complete restoration of the boat from the keel up at one of the top woodworking shipyards in Estimated Mile Rangeope! The restoration included the installation of a new 240 Hp auxiliary engine that allows the boat to cruise at 9 knots and reach a maximum speed of 11 knots. The hull was also re-double plated with Azobé oak from West Africa, and the internal doors were replaced with oak. The bulkheads and deckhouse are made of new mahogany, while the decks are made of Burma teak. The boat also features a new pine bowsprit and red leather salon settees by Solimar Bozzelli. Detailed images of the restoration process can be found in the Photo Gallery. With this boat, you can see exactly what you are getting.
