Frederick Lord Pilothouse Boats Review and Specs

Year: 1927
Manufacturer: Classic Yachts
Price: Max Mile Range:48,000

This is a one-of-a-kind special boat. It is a beautiful, flared, historic, and fun boat. It was designed in 1927 by Frederick K. Lord and built at the Ruddock Yacht Works in Greenwich, Connecticut. Lord is best known as the designer of the Kennedy family boats from that era. He was famous for creating high-speed hull designs. Today, it is still registered as an Historic Vessel. As can be seen from these photos, it is a piece of history and offers tons of fun and beauty. The boat features cypress planking on oak framing, an ironwood rub rail, and a mahogany house. Its specifications include a length of 48 feet, a cruising speed of 10-12 knots, and a hull speed of 20 knots. It is powered by a pair of Chrysler Marine Hemis with 250 horsepower each. It has a fuel capacity of 300 gallons (gas) and a water capacity of 200 gallons. It was last hauled and surveyed in 2007, and it is in a clean and sound condition. The boat comes with documentation that includes the original design drawings (on file at Mystic Seaport), engine manuals, document forms, and the original 1928 magazine advertisement for this boat. It has two staterooms, a new head, a bath tub, new teak and holly floors, an inverter, new breaker boxes, a winch, a new hot water tank, a new refrigerator, a new holding tank, a new exhaust system, GPS, a radio, and a depth finder. It also offers ample storage space both fore and aft. In August 2007, it was hauled for touch-up paint and zincs. The boat also has a covered slip.
